Here is something for all those crazy “Toddlers and Tiaras” moms out there that think spray tanning their two, three, four and five year old children is a good idea. The Food and Drug Administration has been warning us for quite some time about the possible dangers of spray tanners, now there is evidence that these self tanning sprays are hazardous.
The active chemical in spray tanners is dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a new study shows DHA may cause genetic alterations and damage DNA. Could you imagine spraying a toddler with this s**t? I can’t.
A panel of 6 medical experts said they “have concerns” after reviewing reports and literature on DHA. The review found DHA altered genes of multiple cells and organisms when tested in labs. The FDA has warned people that use spray tanners to avoid exposure to eye, ears, nose and avoid inhaling, again, why would anyone spray this on their toddlers?
