If you have watched any of the 2012 Olympic games there is no doubt you have seen some of the Olympians sporting colorful tape adhered to different body parts, many people have been asking, what is the tape for? The colorful tape is called Kinesio tape named for the Japanese chiropractor that invented it decades ago.
Kinesio tape is quite different than tape used to support an ankle, wrist, knee or shoulder, it’s thin and pliable and does not interfere with circulation like standard joint wraps. The colorful tape according to kinesio can stimulate circulation while it pulls gently on the skin. Kinesio does not contain any chemicals.
Whether this tape is beneficial or not is debatable, but athletes will do anything for a edge, the tape is being used by athletes from 80 different countries during the London 2012 games.
